Episode 167: How Massively Disastrous Losing Streaks Begin

In this valuable episode of The Traders Podcast, your host Rob Booker talks with Bradley Fried, the CEO of Rob Booker Japan, about Brad’s wild week (last week), when some of his positions went out of control against him. Brad describes his week and how he came out of it. This conversation leads to a number of important discussion topics, such as: How to Know When You’re Finished Trading During a Good Week, and If You’re in a Hole, Do You Stop Digging (or Just Get a Smaller Shovel)?

Also, Rob describes the three routes someone can take when they’ve experienced a bad week in the market, and he describes how massively disastrous losing streaks begin. Brad talks about what he looks for when he’s reassessing the trades that went wrong, and he also spends a little time talking about his personal lifestyle as a trader. We highly recommend this episode! Thanks for listening.

  1. Ian says:

When I started trading I also tried to treat it like a job and literally trade 24/7. What happened? I lost 10% of my equity.

Since switching to a longer time frame approach I’ve found lots more success, up more than 30%. I check the markets up to 3 times a day and may place several positions on at a time but these can last for months. This new slow aced system allows more time for table tennis and mixing music!
